This is a grand spot for gatherings of family or friends. Downstairs is open plan but with clearly designated living, dining and TV-watching areas – including a separate snooker room. A very well-equipped kitchen is big enough for everybody to join in and help, with a lovely large island for those who want to sit and chat, a big American fridge and a dining area separated by a dual sided wood-burner. Underfloor heating powered by an air source heat pump will keep you cosy.

Big bifold doors at either end lead out to the secluded courtyard or the smart landscaped gardens. On sunny days you can fling them both open and float seamlessly from outdoors to in, light the gas barbecue, feel very much on holiday. Bedrooms (two downstairs, two on the first floor and two on the second) all have sumptuous beds and en suite bathrooms.

You are left local cheese, bread, eggs, crisps and cider. Stride out into untrammelled countryside.
