The Experience
You’ll feel well looked after here. Everything has been designed with guests in mind: you’re not overlooked in either cottage and you have your own little patch of garden as well as a shared orchard to wander freely. You’ll also find a bountiful welcome hamper with all you need for two massive breakfasts and basics like milk and fruit.
Walk along a footpath from the house, which within 15 minutes will take you to the White Horse pub – also a micro-brewery and member of CAMRA. In the other direction you’ll find the church. Bring bikes and join the South Suffolk cycle route for a pedal to charming Kersey and stunning Lavenham – it’s relatively flat round here.
Hop in the car for Dedham, Flatford Mill and a cream tea at the Essex Rose tearoom. Stock up on holiday treats at Sudbury, just 10 minutes down the road, then return to a roaring fire, comfortable chairs and a kitchen that’s got all you need to rustle up supper.

Location
The neighbourhood
Wander the beautiful gardens and orchard at will; come out at night for star studded skies and total peace. The walking and cycling are great from here - pedal into Lavenham (six miles) for a walk along the old railway line and the twice-weekly market. One of the loveliest Suffolk churches is at Long Melford, just over six miles, and there are excellent pubs within cycling distance too.
Local points of interest from Mark Scott
- Tiny lanes to cycle along using the Grove Cottage's bikes.
- Within a few minutes of the River Stour immortalised by John Constable.
- The medieval village of Lavenham, Long Melford, where Lovejoy was filmed, and Kersey are all nearby.
- We may be just 90 minutes from London but visitors feel it is a million miles away as they explore the tiny lanes meandering round to the lovely Medieval Villages in a truly Rural area
- The rambling farm buildings are surrounded by Orchard Gardens, one being about an acre and ideal as a dog exercise area.
- Well behaved dogggies are always welcome
