The Experience

The upstairs sitting room is lovely and light with sash windows and deep sills making the most of the views, plenty of seating round a wood-burning stove and a study area. You cook in a sociable, country style kitchen with a sofa and chair for chatterers or helpers and eat in the dining room at a big table, warmed by another wood-burner – find books, scrabble, bread from the local bakery and basics for cooking in the cupboards.

Sleep well in peaceful bedrooms (one downstairs) all a good size and with pretty fabrics, deep mattresses and crisp linen. On warm days you’ll be in the garden, safe for dogs and unruly toddlers and with a lawn for a kick about with a football or lazing in the sun. A little pond is fun for gazing and you’ll find a barbecue, table and chairs at the back.

Just around the corner is The Crown Inn for great food, locally sourced and with regularly changing menus to reflect the seasons.

Reviews

A wonderful 10 days spent in The Yellow House. We love it - it’s just so welcoming and comfortable. East Rudham has a great pub, tearoom and deli and is so well placed for coast and countryside.

Joyce, Richmond Yorks

We had an absolutely magical stay at Yellow House over the holidays. We couldn’t fault it - it was the perfect size for five adults and one baby. The owners thoughtfully decorated the living room with a Christmas tree, which along with the wood burner, made it very cosy and festive. Communication was great and they also left us some local goodies to welcome us on arrival. So glad places like this are still around amid the sea of factory operation, stale commercial airbnbs out there.

We loved The Yellow House and spent a wonderful week there as my family from 6-79 years of age will attest. East Rudham is a beautiful village, quiet and conveniently placed. The cottage is charming, comfortable and homely. Great beds and good bathrooms. Beautifully furnished - we’ll be back!

Joyce, Richmond North Yorkshire

Great old Georgian house with original features and ample space for 6 people. Lovely touch was the basket of local goodies on arrival and the small private garden is the perfect place to relax after a day trip to the beach - the buddleia was always covered in butterflies to enjoy! The house is set in a quiet lane and bought some homegrown tomatoes and beans from a neighbour on sale in his front garden which were delicious! Would definitely recommend this house and garden.

Stephanie, Loughborough

The Yellow House rates as one of our top 5 rental choices over the past 50 years! Excellent pub in village.

Jude and Alan, Amersham

Lovely cottage, with space and style. Large for our needs but excellent in every regard. We go to Norfolk regularly and in future will always try to seek it out. Alan & Jude Jones.

Alan, Amersham

The cottage is delightful and was suitable for my Mother who can use stairs but prefers not to. The garden gave us peaceful evenings, with no noise. We were able to walk the dog from the door across fields, had easy access to the beach and a day at Sandringham. A perfect quiet weekend away. I can recommend the village pub for food, and local asparagus if the season is right.

Debbie, Foston

A beautiful cottage within easy reach of Norfolk's best attractions.

Richard, Stratford-upon-Avon

A lovely quiet, cosy cottage. Well equipped and 30 minutes from the main beaches. We had one small issue with a downstairs radiator which was fixed the same day we mentioned it - excellent service. We expect to return.

Martina, Fleet

We had a wonderful week at the Yellow House and would highly it to others considering a holiday in this part of Norfolk.

Tanya, Bromsgrove

The Yellow House is a fabulous base for a holiday in North Norfolk. It's location is ideal in that most day trips, whether to market towns, stately homes, or the coast, are no more than 20 mins drive away. The house itself is very well appointed - very much a 'home from home' rather than a 'holiday home.' Very comfy beds; good quality linens; well furnished. The garden provides a pleasant place to sit outside and a safe, fully enclosed space for dogs.

Cath, Rutland

The yellow house is a perfect rental cottage. It is beautifully maintained and decorated, very clean and surprisingly spacious. We had a lovely time visiting the north Norfolk beaches, which are so easily accessible from the property.

Louisa, London

The Yellow House was a wonderful experience for 2 grandparents, a mum and dad and 2 young ladies aged 7 & 4. The house was immaculately clean, beautifully decorated including some lovely paintings. It’s kitchen and dining room were fully equipped with everything. The rear garden with BBQ and furniture was delightful in this hot summer. It was in a lovely village and only 20 mins or so from the N. Norfolk beaches. I have recommended it to our greater family and would happily go back. The beds were great.

Steve, Lincoln

We have recently stayed in The Yellow House and had such a wonderful time. It’s comfy with plenty of space. It’s easy to get to the beaches that we love at Brancaster, Holkham and Burnham Overy Staithe. And the pub in the village is well worth a visit. It was great value and we will be booking again for the summer! We would highly recommend a visit!

James, Grantham

The Yellow House is absolutely charming. Great location for Norfolk and very close to the excellent Crown Inn. The house is beautifully proportioned with everything one needs. We loved our 5 day stay and are definitely coming back.

Justin, Boothby Pagnell

A superb base for walking, days out at the coast, visiting historic houses and gardens, wonderful cycling routes and great pubs to stop at for a pint and some local food.

Nicola, Sawday's Inspector

The perfect bolthole in Norfolk - beautifully decorated and exceedingly comfortable and cosy. Great location and away from the crowds on the north coast, yet close enough to go there. Easy to book and excellent value.

Barney, Stamford

What a lovely comfortable house , good entertaining space and 3 good sized doubles. Lots of heat, and hot water! Peaceful road. Good local pub. Have recommended already to friends.

Location

The neighbourhood

The walk along Holkham beach from Burnham Overy Staithe to Holkham is charming. The National Trail is made up of two long distance walking trails - Peddars Way and the Norfolk Coast Path. Cyclists can join most of the Peddars Way or head to the Norfolk Coast Cycleway which runs from King's Lynn to Great Yarmouth. End the day with delicious fish and chips from French's in Wells-next-the-Sea.
