Long a family favourite which draws in the summer crowds after a day at nearby Cromer or Holkham. Hunker down on a sofa and read the papers with a pint of Adnams or Brancaster Oystercatcher.

Seasonal menus draw on the rich Norfolk larder of produce – Cromer crab, Brancaster mussels, local farm asparagus and Letheringsett game in season. Breakfast on local eggs, bacon and sausages or Staithe Smokehouse salmon. Four gorgeous bedrooms wait upstairs with crisp linen and down on deep mattresses, en suite bathrooms with Bramley soaps and lotions, countryside views.

The suntrap front terrace is the place to be on warm days – in the summer holidays the outside bar and the barbecue in The Garden Shack is in full swing all day.
