The Experience
This was once a fisherman’s cottage and he would have crammed a large family into it quite happily, so there’s plenty of space for a loved-up couple or a singleton desiring time alone. You walk straight from the pavement into the kitchen, then a table by a pretty window seat and a tiny, light-filled sitting room. Two vintage armchairs sit in front of an Everhot electric stove so you’ll feel very cosy and you’re surrounded by some quirky, end-of-the-pier style art.
Up rather steep stairs to a lovely bedroom with a big bed, clouds of feather and down, a sweet sash window with a window box, groovy lighting and more local art. A couple of wooden steps take you up to a shower with Norfolk soaps and lotions and a heated towel rail to keep you cosy.
Morning tea or a sundowner will be lovely in the south-west facing courtyard with colourful pots. Paula leaves you basics for cooking, a bottle of wine and a jar of honey from her own bees.

Beautiful cottage and perfect location for walks on the beach and pottering around Cromer and the surrounding area. The cottage is spotlessly clean, elegant and cleverly designed with everything one could need. Paula is a fantastic and helpful host too. We highly recommend Shrimp Cottage

What a charming cottage Shrimp is! Beautifully and simply styled without being in the least pretentious. Extremely comfortable bed, which can be arranged as twin or large double. For us it was perfect! Very central location so it was lovely being able to pop back to the cottage when we wanted. We were only there for two nights but we would definitely stay longer another time. Thank you! Oh I should say that we were aware of traffic noise at times, being in the centre, but the street itself was very quiet. This did not affect our enjoyment of our stay at Shrimp.

Beautiful little cottage in a great location, just a short walk to sample the wonderful delights of Cromer. Very clean with lovely furnishings. Treats were left for ourselves and our dog to enjoy. Parking was only a couple of minutes walk away. Really enjoyed our stay, would love to return.

Though Shrimp is small it really is perfectly formed. The conversion has been done with incredible taste, style and eye for detail. The kitchen is well equipped in a highly curated way - from the butcher's block to the Italian coffee pot to the utility cupboard containing a peg bag, hoover and ironing board. (Only slight gripe is that I found the mattress a tad too squashy). It's just a few yards from Cromer pier and beach, a handful of reasonable restaurants and pubs and some great walks. There's a folder with an impressive amount of detail about the house and area. A perfect retreat

Shrimp is a delight. The cottage is immaculate. Beautiful seaside decor. Perfect for two. We enjoyed our proximity to everything Cromer has to offer but also the ease of getting out into the North Norfolk countryside. It was only 20 minutes to the birdwatching havens that are the saltmarshes and beaches between Cley next the sea and Salthouse. We also had a lovely walk along the Weavers' to the National Trust's Fellbrigg Hall. Would highly recommend!

Tiny but top-notch! What a charming cottage - we adored our stay. Simon and Paula were super helpful in answering all of our questions. I could have spent the whole time in the cloud like bed. Such a great location to relax and wind down from the fast pace of everyday life or equally a great base for exploring Norfolk (Holkham hall and beach, Well-next-the-sea and the Norfolk Broads). Would definitely recommend!

- Shrimp is as beautiful as it looks in the photos. It was immaculate and the bed is the comfiest I’ve slept in for a long time. I was blown away by the stylish presentation but the beautiful flowers in the window box took my breath away. There is a delightful courtyard garden too which I imagine would feel like being in Italy (except it was a bit cold during our stay!) my doggy came too and Paula provided dog bowls and treats - and fizz for me. We didn’t want to leave!

We really loved our visit to Shrimp. The cottage is small but perfectly formed - tastefully decorated with lots of thoughtful and luxurious touches, spotlessly clean and well equipped with all that we needed. The courtyard garden would be a real bonus but in the summer. Shrimp is comfortable for two and in a great location in the centre of town, only minutes from the beach & pier. The hosts could not be more welcoming & helpful. When we couldn’t find the corkscrew they treated it as an emergency and brought one to us in no time! We would certainly recommend Shrimp and hope to return soon.

It's tiny but lovely and everything is well thought-out, generous and attractive. A great little space from which to explore Cromer and if you hire bikes you can probably just leave the car in its spot for a whole week.

Location
The neighbourhood
There's a good deli in the parallel street for stocking up with local produce and it's a one-minute walk to the promenade for North Sea Coffee - an excellent little café where they have pop-up events in the summer. Big skies and fabulous Blue Flag status beaches with surfing waves are walkable so head off for a proper seaside day out. Join the coastal path or hire bikes, visit Sheringham Park.
Local points of interest from Paula Coast

- Where better to spend a day in the ocean than on Cromer’s Blue Flag Status Beach. Under expert guidance at the Glide Surf School, hire a board & discover a passion for surfing - once you catch your first wave, you’ll be hooked for life!
- Love the cold water? Pull on your wetsuit & woolly hat to join the ‘Bluetits Chill Swimmers’ at Sheringham’s Blue Flag Beach for wild swimming - Post swim dry robe & hot drink a must - you might even see the seals!
- Vinyl revivalists can Keep The Faith at Cromer Soul Club’s Northern Soul nights or visit the ‘Punk Office’ in Holt to browse one of the largest collections of new and used vinyl records found under one roof anywhere in the UK.
- Walkers are Welcome & with links to a number of long distance trails you can leave the car behind. Armed with binoculars & thermos, stride out to explore the Deep History Coast, hunt for fossils, observe the birdlife or just take in Norfolk skies.
