The Experience
Silver tea and coffee pots and Portmeirion china, pictures and prints from far-flung places, and an unexpected peace in the centre of the city – welcome to Gothic House. The building is listed and Regency and your host, enthusiastic, charming, knows the history. As for breakfast, it is fresh, lavish and locally sourced; a full Norfolk, or kippers, scrambled eggs, avocado, cheese and croissants in the dining room.
The bedroom is full of character with flamboyant wallpaper, a very comfortable bed, tea and coffee to make for yourselves and views through the beautifully-shaped window. There’s a decent pub just along the road and you’re within walking distance of shops, restaurants and the cathedral with the second tallest spire in England.
Walk to a cinema or theatre, admire Georgian and even older architecture.

Utterly charming, wonderful attention to detail: fruit and sherry in bedrooms along with real coffee. Superb breakfast and run by a real character. Long may he do so!
