The Experience
A fun, versatile space – the whole first floor of the owners’ Edwardian terraced house – a stone’s throw from Oxford Street in an area dotted with good eateries. Both former architects, Wendy (who’s nurturing a veg garden on the roof) and Mike, live upstairs so are on hand to greet and to advise. What they’ve created for their self-caterers is one large, light and uncluttered living area with high ceilings and huge windows which can be divided with screens as the need for privacy dictates. Curvaceous furniture and the odd retro touch give a quirky 50s feel – though there’s cable TV and WiFi too. Original floorboards are lime-washed, walls white, fabrics mainly natural with the odd pop of colour. There’s a lime-green galley-style kitchen (starter essentials provided) with hob, dishwasher, a small round table and chairs and beyond this area the wetroom. This little space – again with screens – has a smart square sink, shower and loo, nice smellies and soft towels. Fitzrovia is a great part of town, close to Soho, China Town, Regent Street and Piccadilly – best come without a car, parking is pricey and public transport is excellent..

We stayed 2 nights at Mike's house in the self contained flat. Space is well laid out and had everything we needed. Excellent location in a very vibrant area. Great tips from Mike for local coffee shops and restaurants. And ingredients for first breakfast is a lovely touch. Definitely recommended.

Location
The neighbourhood
Local points of interest from Wendy Shillam
- Mike and Wendy welcome you to our friendly home. We are always happy to answer your questions or recommend somewhere for dinner. Bonnie Gull, an excellent fish restaurant is just around the corner. They specialise in freshly caught British seafood.
- Included in your room rate is a welcome pack of goodies, including eggs, bacon and bread. There are many food shops close by, from classy food halls like Villandry, to late night supermarkets. The Farmers Market is on Sunday.
- Great Titchfield Street is right in the heart of central London, but it is not a busy street. The street is famous for its independent cafes, including Scandinavian Kitchen, Gitane (Persian) and Kaffeine (Aus) .
- If you are interested in gardening, Wendy has made a roof top veg plot on the top floor. You are welcome to view it. Very occasionally, for example during The Chelsea Fringe, it is open to the public.
- Our visitors range from business people, academics and tourists. We are within walking distance of theOxford Street shops, West End theatres, Bloomsbury universities and The British Museum. Oxford Circus Metro is 5 minutes away. Getting about is easy.
- If you like to swim, we are ten minutes stroll from the historic Marshall Street Baths. Regent's Park, one of London's most spectacular royal parks is equally close.

My friend and I stayed in the self catering flat which we found to have everything we needed. The location is great - you are minutes from busy areas like Oxford Street yet the neighbourhood is fairly quiet. Thee are plenty of local restaurants and coffee shops so no need to eat at overpriced places that are in tourist areas. I can highly recommend this place and will stay again. Ext t8me I come to London.
