The Experience

At the end of the humble track, you’ll find the established Heppington vineyard and a beautifully converted Edwardian stable block. The friendly owners live at one end of the stables, you live at the other, and all you hear are the birds. There are logs for the wood-burner, wine from the estate and fresh flowers for the table, and heaps of country-house space. So: enter a hall with white paintwork and chequer tiles, a lofty sitting room in duck-egg blue, a big fresh kitchen/dining room with all you need, and an airy sun room, perfect for the papers. The en suite bedroom is downstairs and the rest are up: a twin/double; a single; a bathroom under the eaves. Colours are muted, carpets soft, beds comfortable and everything shines. Outside? Rolling views of Kentish countryside from a well-tended pretty garden, a pool enclosed by a rose-tumbled wall, a wild meadow sprinkled with flowers. Swimming and tennis can be arranged, historic Canterbury is up the road, and if you fancy a well-pulled pint – or a top-notch Sunday roast – you simply stride across the fields.

Reviews

We stayed in Stable West for 3 nights. The cottage is beautifully furnished, very spacious and comfortable and surrounded by lovely and peaceful countryside. It even has an electrical charge point for one of our cars which we were welcome to use. Charlie was very attentive and helpful, and we wanted for absolutely nothing during our stay. We would thoroughly recommend it!

We had a fantastic time at Stable West. It is a beautiful house and much larger than it appears in the photographs. The house is really well equipped. A perfect home from home. We sat out on the private terrace each evening and ate our evening meals in the conservatory. The garden is lovely. Charlie and Lucy were perfect hosts.

Beautiful, extremely comfortable and very spacious cottage - much bigger than we had envisaged. Surrounded by fields; all you can hear is birdsong - very peaceful. Walked each day thru the fields to a different, fabulous pub - The Duck at Pett Bottom especially good. Charlie was a great communicator and popped round immediately we needed anything. Perfect escape from the city. Thank you.

We spent a wonderful 9 days over New Year in this beautiful country retreat. I have to say the photos don't do the place justice - the house is wonderful and is in truly beautiful surroundings. It doesn't feel like a holiday let and there are lots of little touches which make it a home from home. Although Charlie and Lucy live next door and were available if we needed anything, we had complete privacy and could pretend we were the lucky owners - we hope to be back soon!

Carole, Turin

The best holiday home we've ever been to,an extraordinary place: spacious, well equipped, tasteful Interieur, beautifully located and - as if all this wasn't enough - run by a very nice and helpful couple. highly recommended, we'll definitely return!

We had a lovely stay at Stable West, it’s really beautiful inside and out, and spotlessly maintained. The gardens are very pretty and in fact, the whole place is a large chunk of rural eye candy - something pleasant catches the eye wherever you look! There are lots of nice walks from the house including woodland, fruit field and meadow, always with stunning countryside views. We loved the swimming pool too. There is a good pub ten minutes walk away, our tip is to stock up on good Kentish provisions at the nearby farm shop and get cooking back at the house or on the BBQ.
