The Experience
This dinky cottage overlooks Hayling Bay; wander over to the shingle beach and spend the day sunbathing or trying something more adventurous: windsurfing, kite surfing and paddle boarding are all on offer. It has a good beach café too with proper coffee, snacks and ice creams, of course.
There’s a wood-burner to keep you cosy and the well-stocked kitchen leads out to a courtyard garden and a washhouse; through there you’ll find another little cottage garden, colourfully planted, with a table and chairs for al fresco dining. There’s a barbecue too, and table tennis in the shed.
You can stroll down to the amusement arcade, and there are plenty of cafes and two pubs in Langstone with views over Chichester Harbour. Kids will love the steam train that pootles along the coast to the funfair, Beachlands.

We had the most lovely stay at Coastguard Cottage. It is so cosy and jam packed full of really charming, well thought out details that made it a very special place to spend some time. The outdoor space and out buildings were fantastic and the location couldn't have been better either as you're in such easy reach of an amazing beach, great walks and it's not far from shops or the busier side of the seaside with the funfair. We found the kitchen very well equipped and a good hot water supply in the comfortable bathrooms. The beds were also super comfy, which was much appreciated!

We can thoroughly recommend staying at 80 Coastguard Cottages. We had a very happy family break here, enjoying beach walks and shell collecting, a visit to the historic dockyard at Portsmouth and lots of ice cream and cake! The cottage has so many lovely touches, is very clean and comfortable, and great, wide sea views out to the Isle of Wight. Zoe, the owner, made us feel very welcome and gave us lots of good tips to help us make the most of our break on Hayling Island. Thank you!

The cottage is perfectly situated just over the road from the beach, and a few minutes walk from shops, cafes, fish and chips, etc. It is very clean and tidy and has everything you'd need, and more! Zoe, the host, was very generous, kind and helpful. Highly recommended.

We had a lovely weekend in this cosy little cottage. Very nicely decorated throughout, clean, warm and comfy. Owners were very friendly and helpful with information about pubs, restaurants and things to do in the area. Really nice that they supplied tea, coffee, oil, salt and pepper and milk etc. The cottage is situated just across the road from the beach and in a great position. Lovely walks and great views across to the Isle of Wight. Lots to do in the area

Location
The neighbourhood
As well as the shingle beach opposite there are three miles of beaches to explore and the three main beaches all have blue flag status. For children there's the railway and funfair, for adults there are heaps of water sports to try and also a golf course. For walkers and cyclists there's a four mile stretch of coastal path around the island. It's a short trip to Portsmouth, Chichester and Emsworth.
Local points of interest from Zoe Attard
- Walk out on the sand bar by the Inn on the Beach at low tide that looks like it stretches all the way to the Isle of Wight, and paddle in the shallow sea pools
- Take the mini railway to Beachlands fun park and try a few rides
- Play a round of Golf at Hayling Islands very own championship golf club
- Go to the Royal Oak at high tide for a sundowner and enjoy the stunning views across Chichester Harbour. If you have any little ones in tow they can go crabbing while you relax
- Hire a kayak or a paddle board from Andy Bigss Watersports & explore Chichester or Langstone Harbours
- Visit Bosham’s historic church (a 30 minute drive) then walk around the harbour, take a ferry to Itchenor and walk to West Wittering Beach

Introducing
Zoe Attard
Zoe and her husband live in London and bought the cottage for weekend escapes after spending time on the island renovating a wooden yacht. They love being by the sea – swimming, sailing, walking or just chilling out - and want to offer their cottage to others who will enjoy it.
Lovely bright, well maintained cottage, with all I needed for a short break. Gorgeous sea view, near local shops, pubs and attractions and plenty of information about others further away. Welcome carton of milk in the fridge, and other staples in the cupboards. Good communication with friendly owner.
