The Experience

It’s the sort of place you long to arrive at after a hearty walk. The atmosphere is warm and purposeful, there are lots of places to sit comfortably downstairs and you’re looked after by well-trained and cheerful staff. Lovely to browse the menu with a glass of Balfour wine in your hand, or one of the local hand-pumped ales while you decide what to eat.

Head chef Jake is passionate about using suppliers within a 15-mile radius, the menus are reassuringly small and are changed with the seasons. It’s predominantly traditional English, including Sunday roasts, with creative twists. Bedrooms (some in the main building, the suites in the coach house) are spacious and cheerful, bathrooms sport Arran Aromatics soaps and lotions.

Wake to a full English, American pancakes, breakfast baps or a continental with plenty of veggie and gluten-free options; wander the bustling village, visit the church, set off on some wonderful walks from the door.
