Minterne Parva Farmhouse

The house sits in a tiny, quiet hamlet surrounded by lovely countryside. Everything flows well inside with lots of interconnecting doors, two staircases (children will love disappearing up one and coming down another), a handy utility room for muddy boots, a good-sized sitting room and an elegant dining room – both with an open fire.

The farmhouse-style kitchen has plenty of kit, a range-style cooker and a door to the garden. You’re left a welcome hamper of Dorset treats and a few basics in the cupboards. You also get free entry to the fabulous Minterne Gardens down the road – a trail with year-round interest and a unique collection of Himalayan rhododendrons and azaleas with waterfalls and rare trees.

Bedrooms and bathrooms are on the first and second floors – comfortable, chintzy and with plenty of light. Long summer evenings in the garden will be lovely – fire up the barbecue, chatter and sip, let children go safely free-range.
