The Granary, Larkbeare Grange

Charlie and Julia are passionate conservationists (biomass boiler, underfloor heating, locally sourced building materials, natural oils, water-based paints) but they haven’t compromised on aesthetics in their larch-cladded creation. Find a thoughtfully designed open space with a contemporary feel, a living room with a bio-ethanol fire, a flat screen 3D TV and a kitchen with adjustable height hob and side-opening oven. You’re left freshly baked bread, homemade jam and marmalade.

Giant glass doors show off magnificent views; fling them open on sunny days. There’s an outdoor shower for muddy children or dogs and both can cavort safely in the lovely garden. Very comfortable bedrooms have well-dressed beds, good lighting and glass doors to bring the outside in. The swish wet room is wheelchair compliant, has a bath and a Geberit Aquaclean.

There are three bicycles to borrow, gorgeous walks with pubs and an award-winning restaurant nearby.
