The Experience

Bump down the lane, cross a stone bridge and skip over the stepping stones to slide open the glass doors of this bright riverside cabin, perched above a private stretch of the river Avon. It’s utterly peaceful here, with only the chatter of birds and burbling river to break the silence. Arrive to a riot of colour in summer and carpets of bluebells in spring; it’s cosy and snug year round.

Inside, muted colours and natural fabrics set off interesting artefacts, repurposed antiques, family heirlooms and original art by owner Miranda. Floor-to-ceiling windows in the cosy sitting room draw your eyes to the river and it’s relaxing to lie in your kingsize bed on linen sheets with a morning cuppa gazing outside and planning your day. Perhaps a riverside walk or a trip to boaty Salcombe or arty Totnes.

Return to prep dinner in the smart kitchen, barbecue on the terrace, swing in the hammock or cosy up with a hot choc in front of the wood-burner.

Reviews

We had such a wonderful stay at the Batman’s cabin. The interior of the cabin is impeccable and it is situated right next to a the river Avon, which offers a beautiful walk along the river into the woods. Our host Miranda was lovely, helping us with directions to local amenities and providing us with extra fire wood. The cabin is close to lots of beautiful beaches and lovely places to eat. Really magical - we’ll definitely be back!

Eloise, London

The Batman's Summerhouse is absolutely idyllic. From the beautiful furnishings, with a true, soulful vibe, to the setting beside the stream, and the cosines of the log fire. I honestly couldn't have asked for more. Our stay was just two nights, but felt like weeks it was so nourishing. Thank you Miranda. We are so looking forward to coming back.

Frances, Newquay / Oxford

A truly wonderful stay at the Batmans summerhouse. The most peaceful and mesmerising place that gave us the escape we so desperately needed. Miranda was a wonderful host and even gave us a late check out on our last day. Cannot recommend this place enough. A wonderful space, so thoughtfully decorated. We can’t wait to come back.

Kirsty, Midhurst

This cosy 1930s riverside cabin exudes vintage charm and comfort. Interesting artefacts and repurposed antiques are all perfectly placed. I loved the gin and rum bar tucked into a little cupboard – great for an evening tipple. Nestled into a secluded wooded valley, this is the perfect place to relax and unwind, watch for illusive kingfishers or catch a glimpse of otters playing.

Sheila, Sawday's Inspector

A little slice of heaven, wake to the sounds of the river and the local peacocks. The cabin is magical, and as a family with a five year old it was probably the most exciting place he has stayed! Beautifully put together and far bigger than it looks in photos!
