Poocks Cottage

This is just the ticket for getting outdoors with rural views, plenty of birdlife, wild ponies, a chalk stream to muck about in and a bridge for Pooh sticks. Walking is superb, either inland up onto the moor or on the Coast Path from Porlock Weir – a spectacular stretch leading you through forests and waterfalls. Return to a large, beamed sitting room with plenty of room for all to sit, a wood-burner, games, cards and books. A separate ‘snug’ is grand for escapees.

The kitchen is a happy place to cook, warmed by a range cooker and with a big wooden table for helpers, chatterers, or those tackling a jigsaw. From here there are doors onto the south-facing terrace, a lawn big enough for sprawling or games and a wood shed with extra logs – have a go at splitting them if you like.

Bedrooms have well-dressed beds and deep window sills for gazing. The bathroom is big with a proper bath and there’s an extra loo and shower downstairs.
