The Experience

This bijoux stone cottage dates from the 17th century and is set in a terrace row in the hamlet of Batson, close to Salcombe at the head of Batson Creek. Stone steps lead from the lane to the house, where wisteria scrambles up the walls and a stable door leads into the compact, open-plan living area with a wood-burner, an ultra-modern kitchen and three bedrooms upstairs.

You’ll find a folder with recommendations on what to see and where to eat and your dedicated parking space is a short walk away. Stroll to Salcombe’s pretty harbour and sandy beaches, half a mile away; eat at the popular Crab Shed or Seamonkey Deli and Tapas.

Return home to fire up the barbecue and while away long summer evenings on the lovely sun terrace, which has comfy lounge seating, a dining table and idyllic views of Devon hills. Sleep well on top-quality beds made up with crisp, white linen and snuggly throws.

The neighbourhood

You're set on a quiet no-through lane in the hamlet of Batson, with pretty thatched houses set around a small village green. Picturesque Salcombe is on an estuary and popular with the yachting fraternity and holidaymakers. It's well-supplied with a small supermarket, a renowned baker, a deli, a fishmonger and a butcher, as well as a good selection of pubs and restaurants.
