The Experience

In the 70s the farm belonged to Hank Marvin and there are nods to him in the artwork – especially his signature red Fender Stratocaster. There’s an attractive blend of modern materials with oak beams, weathered bricks and local flint. The living space is high-ceilinged, light and airy with sumptuous cushions and throws, a flame electric fire, board games and large screen for watching TV or films.

Cooking is a breeze with a Neff oven and hob, plenty of space for prepping and a table big enough to invite friends over and you can have shopping delivered. If you need to work find the perfect alcove with a walnut desk. Through an open archway is a solid steel four-poster beneath a splendid vaulted ceiling and a William Holland bateau bath – for more modest souls there’s a separate wet room.

You’ll feel very private outdoors in the enclosed garden, not overlooked at all and with a Weber gas barbecue. Summer evenings are sublime.

Reviews

We booked this short break last minute and enjoyed a lovely few days in Devon. The Annexe was in a lovely location but a car is essential and it was beautifully presented. The design and fittings of the property are of the highest quality. The swim in the pool was a bonus and was well organised. Can definitely recommend.

Lesley

Lovely cottage Very well equipped. Bed very comfortable. Lovely views Very easy to take the dog out straight from the door.

Ann

Superb second stay at Lorna and Alistair's superb holiday lettings. Lovely welcome pack, with fresh flowers in our accommodation. Pool lovely and warm, a fabulous week spent in Devon countryside. We'll be back.

Michael

High standard accommodation and very helpful owners. People and dogs receive a warm welcome. As might be expected from such a remote location, the views are spectacular. Having a car is essential to get out and about.

Jayne

Hanks Annexe is beautiful, and set in such a tranquil natural area. We were also the only people staying in one of the properties at Higher Wiscombe for the week we booked, so apart from Olivia who greeted us and showed us around, we didn't see anyone else which was brilliant. This also meant we could explore the heated pool, games room or 57 acres around the site at our leisure. The property is decorated to a high standard and is very well equipped, we felt completely at home. We had a great time at Hanks Annexe, and we would love to book again.

Rebecca

Superb location & very well equipped annex. Extremely friendly hosts leaving us with life time memories. We will certainly be returning...

Carl

Beautiful place to stay. Very relaxing, superb views. Incredibly dog friendly. Fantastic facilities and excellent specification

Annette

My partner and I had the pleasure of staying at Hanks Annexe and couldn’t fault it in any way. Perfect location - secluded enough to feel as if you are getting away from it all, far reaching views and great walks for the dogs but only a stones throw away from local attractions, restaurants and supermarkets. The annexe itself had everything you need to escape whilst being stylishly furnished to a very high standard. The dogs were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived, with treats blankets and a crate. Would highly recommend this to anyone and wouldn't hesitate about going back!

Joshua

Location, facilities, views, cleanliness all great. Very dog friendly. Would recommend……

Debbie

Hank's Annexe is a very well equipped and luxurious boutique hideaway. It is surrounded by incredible countryside giving spectacular views in all directions. You can stay here knowing the eco credentials are at the highest possible level. The heated outdoor swimming pool is lovely in the warmer weather and is a real bonus as you can book exclusive use!

Introducing

Alistair & Lorna Handyside

Alistair and Lorna have owned the farm for around 20 years. The cottages are run on an eco tourism basis and they have been given a Gold Award for Green Tourism. The biomass boiler produces all the heating and hot water for the cottages as well as the heated pool. They are always there to meet and greet and to show you into the annexe.
