Bowden Croft

The annexe is set slightly behind the owners’ house so you won’t feel overlooked. French doors open out from the dining room onto a small sunny patio with a table and chairs, but you are welcome to explore the rest, along with woodland carpeted with primroses, daffodils and bluebells in spring. Deer are frequent visitors as are owls and sparrow hawks.

Antique furniture sits alongside eclectic artwork and the whole house has a comfortable, relaxing feel. The kitchen is large enough for two to cook together and you’ll find seasonal veg from the walled garden, homemade chutney and jam, fresh eggs from Annie’s hens and a bottle of wine. The two bedrooms are on separate floors and both have sash windows for good views, plump beds and high ceilings.

You’re firmly in the countryside and walks from the door will take you through gentle hills and woodland filled with birdsong and the odd rumbling tractor. The sea is just out of sight.
