The Experience

It’s worth coming for breakfast alone. Bread is baked daily, marmalade is homemade (using Ziz’s grandmother’s recipe), sausages and bacon come from the local butcher and there are vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options, fresh eggs include Benedict or Florentine, Ziz’s philosophy is farm to fork. If you have travelled a long way she’ll even rustle up a plate of cheese and charcuterie for you as long as she has notice.

Bedrooms (one in the basement) differ in size and layout, but all have Quality Street chocolates, the means to make coffee and tea, White Company soaps and lotions, fluffy towels and bathrobes (if you ask). The garden is walled, spacious and full of flowers, with fairy lights strung between the trees and lots of hanging baskets.

You’re welcome to relax in the sitting room, choose a book from the library, play a board game or just listen to the classical music playing. It’s a five-minute walk down the hill into Matlock.

Introducing

Ziz Coltart

Ziz is a whizz! She bought the house in 2017 when it was run down and unloved and she spent over five years renovating it. She's thought of everything with your comfort in mind – her grandmother was a hotelier so her love of hospitality is in her genes. Many guests return year after year.
