The Hayloft, Cumrew House

What can we say, about lovely home that was much bigger than we anticipated! So clean and comfy. This was a great base for us, traveling to Scotland and Lake Windermere. We also enjoyed getting lost over the hill, spotting deer, pheasant and hares! A wonderful stay, thank you for sharing this experience with us.

Absolutely amazing from the minute we arrived. Hayloft was clean, spacious , well equipped and had the most amazing log burner. Beautiful walks close by. Our car had a few issues on arrival after a 7 hour drive but Kit and Andrew were there to offer advice and lifts. Will definitely be returning.

We so enjoyed our Hayloft stay - super spacious, well equipped, stunning setting - a delight. Thank you Kirsty for the chard (for supper), carrots (for picnic lunches) and the welcome chocolate brownies - delicious! On our fell walks we had good butterfly sightings especially the Wall Brown. Visiting Vindolanda was awe inspiring - to find such a large excavation site and award winning museum gave us so much to see. A lovely first visit to this underpopulated part of Cumbria. Hope to be back!

We had a wonderful time at Cumrew House. The house and grounds are beautiful, Kirsty & Andrew very welcoming hosts, and a wonderful area to explore. The cream tea on arrival was thoughtful & delicious. The tennis court was a treat, allowing happy abysmal tennis in complete privacy! The friendly cat and dog, Pele and Juno, were a hit with our young son. A special, relaxing place to stay.

We had such a lovely holiday in this beautiful cottage in wonderful landscape. We had not been to this area before and less touristy than the Lakes and Dales. If you like peace, walking and relaxation this is the place to go. Very friendly owners and their lovely cats and dog made it very homely. Plenty of nice places to eat as well nearby.

We enjoyed a lovely stay in this wonderful corner of the Lake District. Kirsty was very welcoming, and made us feel very at home. The Hayloft is spacious and comfortable, with everything needed for a relaxing holiday. The tennis court and walled garden were an added bonus. The whole family, including small children and dog, benefitted from the space. We very much hope to return.

The Hayloft was really very special: interesting, comfortable, well-equipped and peaceful. Juno was a top highlight - always delighted to see us. Other highlights included being able to pick fresh vegetables every day, the lovely gardens, tennis court, great hosts and wonderful walks all around. Hadrian's Wall and Long Meg and her Daughters would be my 'must-do' recommendations.

We had a wonderful stay in Cumrew House. Everything was to our liking. The house is spacious and beautiful, the grounds were wonderful. I enjoyed the beautiful walled garden and fresh grown greens for salad. The boys loved the tennis court. Kirsty and Andrew are lovely hosts and so was Juno. We highly recommend. We had a wonderful stay in Cumrew cottage. The loft is beautiful, comfortable and clean. The grounds are gorgeous, a real treasure! The tennis court was great for the kids. The Hayloft is a fantastic place to stay. Perfectly position to explore the Eden Valley, the Lake District and Northumberland Hadrian’s Wall. It is very well appointed accommodation with plenty of space. Warm welcome with home made bread. Fantastic garden and tennis court which guests can use. The hosts are delightful - lovely people and nothing is too much trouble. We will be back. Thoroughly recommend.

Had the most wonderfully relaxing stay at the Hayloft. Our accommodation was excellent and we had all that we required during our stay. The gardens were well maintained and a table and chairs available to sit out during the most amazingly sunny week. Also managed a few games of tennis on the well maintained court which was painted during our stay and looked amazing when finished. We hoped for a relaxing week and we were able to achieve this. I would recommend a stay at the Hayloft - it’s not far from the Lakes but you are able to return to the peace and quiet this area allows.

The Hayloft is located in such a peaceful and beautiful part of the countryside. The facilities are homely and comforting with lots of activities to take part in on site or locally. With a tennis court and walled garden there is plenty to do. There is also an adventure park/tarn nearby if you want to take part in water sport activities or if you want a nice walk. Kirsty and Andrew were lovely hosts, they are so welcoming and friendly. Such a wonderful place to stay and we can't wait to go there again!

What a lovely find. We were welcomed by a glowing wood burning stove and very friendly hosts and their dogs and cat! The Hayloft is very cosy and comfortable and well laid out. Beautiful surroundings including a walled garden and a tennis court for the energetic. There are lovely quiet walks right from the doorstep. We certainly hope to return before too long.

We really enjoyed our stay, warm and cosy despite the frosty weather. Kit and Andrew were so helpful and the setting is wonderful. Perfect for visiting Hadrian's wall, castles, priories and the fells. Highly recommended.

A wonderful week visiting family, walking and we even managed to fit in some tennis! The stove warmed us on the less cheery days and our beds were wonderfully comfortable. Already looking forward to our next visit.

Kit and Andrew are perfect hosts. Nothing is too much trouble for them. They have a wealth of local knowledge and always go the extra mile to make your stay comfortable. The Hayloft has everything you need to enjoy the perfect holiday come rain or shine. Fully equipped, spotlessly clean, soft linen and very cozy, especially with the log burner on. The power shower with lashings of hot water was wondrous after a day out walking. So peaceful sitting in the walled garden and wandering around it. We highly recommend staying at the Hayloft for short or long breaks.

We honestly cannot recommend the Hayloft highly enough. Peaceful idyllic surroundings, Kirsty and Andrew are awesome hosts, and the Hayloft is just beautiful with everything you require right down to the smallest detail to make your stay just perfect. It’s warm and cosy in the evenings with the roaring log burner, and bright and airy in the day. With plenty of interesting places to visit surrounding Cumrew the Hayloft makes the perfect holiday or mini break destination. We personally cannot wait to return.
