Philip and Suzy live in the adjacent farmhouse and share the land with a small flock of sheep, some chickens and horses – you’re surrounded by acres of beautiful woodland.

The open-plan living area has a wood-burner for chilly evenings and if the weather’s good there’s a sweet courtyard area with seating. Find kitchen basics in the cupboard, and Susie can rustle up delicious vegetarian food for breakfast or dinner. Otherwise, stroll to the renowned Drunken Duck in 15 minutes.

Climb fells, swim in the lakes, admire stunning views. The medieval market town of Hawkshead and the Beatrix Potter Gallery are a five-minute drive, Ambleside is near for shops, tea rooms and cruises on Lake Windermere.
