The Experience

Dodge the hordes in this mysteriously little-known chunk of England sandwiched between the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales; the approach to the barn is down a grass-centred track bordered by moss-covered dry stone walls and sheep-filled fields in a wide valley. Richard and Debbie live in an adjacent barn and have done all the clever, eco-friendly, restoration work: doors are planked natural oak, paint comes in soft greys and creams, oak window sills are handmade, beams soar and the feel is light and airy. On chilly days lounge in front of the wood-burner on soft British wool upholstered sofas; open doors to the patio for summer meals. The kitchen, contemporary and roomy, has granite surfaces, plenty of equipment and a convivial pine table. Up a glass-sided staircase are smart bedrooms, one larger than the others, all with fat beds, original beams, painted furniture and Herdwick wool carpets; swish bathrooms sparkle with strikingly bright wallpapers. Hole up with Debbie’s hamper (champagne, chocolates, cake), jump in the wood-fired hot tub, soak up panoramic views on the decking or stride into heavenly countryside. Spoiling.

Reviews

This was our third visit to the angel barn and it simply never fails to impress. We had yet another fantastic stay at Angel barn. Beautiful accommodation maintained to the highest standard. Champagne welcome hamper is a wonderful touch along with the honesty bar. The walks are lovely in some stunning countryside. The hot tub is always a hit with us and the outside area offers a comfy seating areas. Already looking forward to next years' visit with my sisters.

Our second time at angel barn and we'll be back. Gorgeous setting with walks on the doorstep and lovely views from the hot tub. Accommodation spotless, well kitted out and beds very comfy. A lovely touch to have a welcome hamper with local products too. Debbie is super helpful. Would highly recommend.

We were a group of six people in our fifties (or thereabouts!) who, after lockdown delays, finally made it to this particular corner of Eden. It was worth the wait! We stayed four nights and had the most wonderful time. Debbie and Richard have put a great deal of thought into Angel Barn, and it felt like a really luxurious place to chill out with friends or family. The views are amazing, the experience of sipping champagne whilst soaking in the hot tub under the stars, with just the sounds of nature around you, felt really decadent!

This was our second visit to A Corner of Eden...The drive to A Corner of Eden is so scenic and beautiful. The fells look amazing with a dusting of snow on top. After a lovely warm welcome, we settled in to beautiful Angel Barn immediately. The welcome hampers for humans and dogs are a lovely touch and all of the contents are either homemade (chocolate cake was a huge hit!) or locally sourced from small businesses. We barely left the cottage for the duration of our 4 night stay. We braved the sleet and wind for some lovely dog walks and puddle jumping for our little girl.

Absolutely loved it. The attention to detail was perfect. It is a roomy place big enough for six but there was just the two of us and we enjoyed the space. Lovely crockery and cutlery and lots of it so was well used and we put it in the dishwasher once used but there was enough left to not have to worry. Very nice soft furnishings that were comfortable to use and some ‘at home’ touches with candles. We also made use of the hot tub and were absolutely blessed with clear skies at night and could almost touch the stars. Perfect hosts and we will return.

Just Wow! We can't rate this property and location highly enough it was the perfect get-a-way for us. Stunning eco barn conversion tastefully renovated whilst keeping the original character, hot tub with views, dog friendly, fells and pub a short walk away. Home from home kitchen with everything you might need for a hassle free, relaxing and luxury holiday cottage stay. Lovely hosts and a welcome hamper with homemade produce that you might just re-book another holiday for just to sample again! Highly recommend - we are definitely planning to return.

Couldn't fault anything about this absolutely stunning home from home barn conversion in an idyllic setting. A truly wonderful midweek break, wish we could have stayed longer. Designed and furnished by Debbie & Richard to a top class standard, every comfort imaginable available. Superb welcome pack. An absolute credit to them both. Will definitely return for a longer break.

Debbie & Richard get you thinking about your next booking before you've even completed a full night's stay at Angel Barn. We spent an extended family Christmas there this year, the property & its location are stunning. Debbie & Richard poured their own hard work into converting the barn and it shows. The website does it justice, which is always a welcome relief. We were traveling with small children so they made sure we had a cot, high chair & baby gate for the stairs. What sold us was the extra effort that Debbie & Richard clearly put in to making our stay a welcome one. Book while you can
