The Experience

Borrow backpacks and beach toys and stroll to the cove below, or find a spot to sit in the gardens facing the sea. This is a stylish hotel on the Roseland Peninsula where children are genuinely welcome and parents are spoiled. There’s an adults-only lounge, a restaurant with tasty food, and an airy spaciousness all around.

Choose between a studio or a family apartment. Studios are open-plan while apartments have separate bedrooms and bunk beds for children. Some spaces open to lovely terraces; the Slate Annexe studios are dog-friendly.

Parents will appreciate the playroom with DVDs, games, toys and books, the table tennis and mini football pitch in the garden, and the children’s tea party every day. Go rock pooling when the tide is out, paddle or swim when it’s in and go sailing from Portscatho, a two-minute stroll away. Irresistible St Mawes is six miles away and ferries can whisk you to Falmouth for the day.

Wonderful place .... Even better than expected. Light and airy, well furnished. Quiet yer close proximity to lots of activities. The owners know how to be customer focused and had thought of everything to make it a great stay for parents and children alike. Beach was great (rock pools) and the Hidden Hut snack place was an added bonus. Will be back

Location

The neighbourhood

The Rosevine’s vast lawns edged with palms drop down to the sheltered beauty of Porthcurnick beach, replete with sands and rockpools. A short stroll along the famous coastal path takes you to the village of Portscatho, with its small shop, pharmacy, post office, two pubs, and sailing boats to hire. Press on to St Mawes in time for lunch.

Local points of interest from Jess Dowell

  • Portcurnick beach - a sandy beach belonging to the National Trust, 2 minutes' walk from us. Soft rolling waves, perfect for paddling, and in low tide explore the rock pools for sea life. Ask at reception about local fishing trips or kayaking
  • Coastal path - we are very close to the coastal path. Guests can walk to nearby village Portscatho and beyond, or towards Nare Head via Pendower Beach.
  • Place ferry to St Mawes - you can walk to Place from the Rosevine, where a small passenger boat ferries people to St Mawes during the summer months. It's a lovely walk over the headland, taking about 45 minutes.
  • St Mawes - a picturesque and popular coastal village, just 5 miles from the Rosevine. Visit the St Mawes castle, built by King Henry IV, and look across the Fal Estuary to the sister castle which sits on the headland above Falmouth.
  • Stroll around St Mawes and visit the small galleries and shops, or take a passenger ferry over to Falmouth, for the National Maritime Museum - a great day out with children.
  • Trelissick Gardens - take the King Harry Ferry across and wander around these National Trust gardens, with views down the River Fal.
