The Experience
Downstairs is like a cosy pub with lots of nooks and crannies to hide away in with a book, a bar area that is a hive of activity and a lovely suntrap outdoor area with tables and chairs for al fresco dining while gazing out to sea or people-watching – the views here are wonderful. You eat in the restaurant and the chef uses the very best local ingredients for everything from fish and chips, steak, fries and sandwiches to seasonal specials and plenty of fresh seafood. Add a good choice of St Austell Brewery beers and most folk will be happy.
Bedrooms are all upstairs and each one is different, some with dual aspect views of the quay but all with a mini-bar, Nespresso machine, Roberts radio and dry robes to keep you cosy if you fancy a dip in the sea. Sparkling bathrooms are all en suite and have Elemis lotions and soaps to ease walk-weary legs.
Hop straight onto the South West Coast Path for bracing walks or drive five minutes to St Austell.

Location
The neighbourhood
The port at Charlestown developed in the late 18th century from the fishing village of West Polmear. It has a unique history and geography and remains a vibrant working port, with classic tall ships to admire – it's a slice of history. You'll find many shops and cafés and you can go on boat trips from the harbour. Visit the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan.
I love this place, it's so quirky with its rabbit warren of bedrooms, you would like to think you could lose yourself in an Enid Blyton novel! All rooms are so individual and the attention to detail is impressive, I would happily stay in any of them.
