The Experience

Down higgledy piggledy steps, you dive straight into a one-room boutique-chic bolthole, perfectly equipped for two. You’re right on the water’s edge with huge windows and mesmerising views towards Fowey. Sit on your little balcony and watch paddle boarders, small boats and smart cutters bobbing over the waves. Speak to the owners about hiring a kayak, paddle board or boat during your stay.

Hop on the ferry from Polruan to Fowey for lots of good places to eat, otherwise there are two pubs just a steep five minutes’ walk away, and a community shop for provisions. The kitchenette is perfect for rustling up meals, you can eat on stools at the pull-down table or out on the terrace.

Walk the coastal path to Lantic Bay, catch the ferry to sandy Readymoney Cove. Fall into your cloud-comfy bed after a busy day exploring and wake to those glorious views and the gentle sounds of lapping waves.

Reviews

What a GEM the most amazing spot to just chill and escape. Great local pub and more pubs/restaurants a short little boat trip across to Fowey. Great location to go explore Cornwall. Thank you fabulous stay, will be recommending to friends & family

Rebecca, Westerham

A wonderful bolthole with high level specifications. Great views of the estuary and over to Fowey from the balcony - a lovely spot for breakfast. South West Coastal Path walks directly from the accommodation.

We booked last minute and were so pleased we did. Pepper Pot is a wonderful place to get away from the world. It's quick into Fowey for restaurants and beautifully quiet and calm back in Polruan. The bed is super comfortable and the picture window is really special. The steps are definitley steep but they also take you right down to the sea which is a bonus. We will be back!

Jenny, London

Absolutely amazing from the moment we arrived until we left. The owners have used the small space so creatively and I was surprised by the quality of all the furniture & fittings plus the abundance of storage available. Views were beautiful even when it was raining. We used the paddle board and I swam from the steps despite the freezing water! Shops & pubs so close and easy access to the ferry across to Fowey. We will definitely be returning next year.

Julie, Epsom

Fantastic accommodation in a lovely Cornish village. Great walks right on your doorstep. Really good local pubs and restaurants. Jo has thought of everything ….so just turn up and unwind!

Brian, Wimborne

We loved staying at Pepperpot not only for the beautiful views but also enjoyed the modern and comfortable set up in the dinky bolt hole which caters for all that you might need. Having access to the kayaks was a big plus and watching the sunrise from the window seat was a memory we’ll savour

Helen, Chichester

The Pepper Pot is absolutely delightful! Views to die for! Peaceful. Comfortable. Can't fault a single thing. Was a truly memorable stay. 11/10

Christina, Blackpool

My partner and I have just returned from our stay. We both had an amazing time in such a fantastic setting. The hosts were very helpful prior to our stay which allowed us to make the most of our time there. The accommodation and facilities were outstanding allowing us both to have a completely stress free break away. I couldn't recommend it more.

George, plymouth

We had a glorious few days at Pepper Pot. The setting is magical and the accommodation just superb. Fantastic attention to detail and quality throughout. We parked up the car for the whole of our stay and delighted ourselves with coastal, creek and cross-country walks, ferry hopping our way between Polruan and Fowey. The stuff that holiday dreams are made of. We'll be back!

Catherine, Huddersfield

My husband and I visited Pepperpot on a last minute whim needing a break. We couldn’t have asked for a better 3 days. Cornwall out of season is stunning. The apartment felt like we were on board a boat in the harbour and the advice on local restaurants and walks was perfect. I cannot recommend this highly enough.

Jilly, Twickenham

Very relaxing days at beautiful Pepper Pot! Everything one needs for a short stay has been thought of and the quality of all the bedding, furniture, bathroom etc is to a very high standard. The view and calming water from the window seat or balcony made this a perfect stay.

Irene, Otterton

We loved sitting in the window seat looking out over the water, just enjoying the lovely views. Great coastal walks straight from the property going north or south. Very good regular ferry to Fowey even in the winter gave us lots of options for walks. The property has everything you need and has been very well designed and thought out.

Liz, Hampshire

A stunning location. Exceptionally appointed. Will definitely book again.

Jackie, Kingsbridge

Amazing location and internally finished to a very high specification . Pepperpot is ideal for a couple looking for a getaway from the huddle and bustle . Views from the apartment are unsurpassable .

Adam, Sevenoaks

Getting here is a little adventure - down steep old stone steps and through narrow walkways. The view that greets you is stunning. Polruan is still a working fishing village, quieter than Fowey, across the water. Take the ferryboat there for restaurants and shops. Observe harbour life from your terrace, clamber down the few steps and dive right in. It's all about the water here.

Melissa, Sawday's Inspector

Pepper Pot is the perfect retreat for couples looking to relax and enjoy stunning scenary. The property is well stocked with everything that we needed. The views and location are exceptional. It is cosy, homely and has modern decor. You couldn't get closer to the estuary unless you are actually in it. We loved kayaking and paddle boarding in the estuary. We could of spent hours sitting in the window seat or out on the balcony, watching the day/evening go by. The local pub was very friendly with a good atmosphere. The walks are stunning and we can't wait to come back.

Paul, Tunbridge Wells

Pepperpot is a beautiful little bolt hole with fabulous views to wake up to. We enjoyed breakfast on the balcony where you can almost touch the water. The Studio has been cleverly designed with every comfort in mind for such a small space. Thoroughly recommend.

Location

The neighbourhood

Polruan has two pubs and a village shop for basic supplies. You can catch the passenger or car ferry to Fowey and be there in 10 minutes, it has a good deli, butcher and wine shop along with restaurants and tea shops. You're on the South West Coast Path and the walking is spectacular in either direction. Cyclists will enjoy The Camel Trail, an 18 mile mainly traffic-free route to Bodmin.

Local points of interest from Jo Forbes

  • Canoeing around the estuary is a good way to enjoy the harbour. If you are more experienced canoeists, you might want to canoe to Lerryn on the rising tide, have a quick bite to eat and then return on a falling tide.
  • We would recommend all the walking around Polruan but our favourite walks are the The Hall Walk – Pont Pill stopping at The Ferry Inn at Bodinnick and Fowey to Polkerris Beach following the coast and then inland on the way home.
  • Visiting Lanhydrock and Cycling- A National Trust house on the way to Bodmin with grounds and wooded estate. There are also a number of cycling trails ranging from easy to difficult.
  • A great day out, if you’re prepared to travel a bit further afield, is to cycle The Camel Trail, which is an 18 mile largely traffic free multi use trail between Wenfordbridge in Bodmin then on to Wadebridge and then Padstow.
  • Hire a local boat for the week and use the mooring. No need to see the car until you leave.
  • Eating in some great pubs and restaurants. The Lugger Inn in Polruan or venture over to Fowey.

Introducing

Jo Forbes

Jo has been coming here, her favourite area, since she was a child. She had her honeymoon in Polruan with her husband David and introduced him to the delights of this special part of Cornwall. When the property came on the market they bought it as their own holiday home: Salts Cottage is above, Pepper Pot below. They will leave you lots of information about how to make the best of your trip.
