The Experience
The cottage has a light and airy feel inside with lofty ceilings (high enough to support an upended boat) exposed beams and oak floors. There is plenty of space to stretch out on comfy seating and a log burner to keep you cosy – children will adore bounding up to the mezzanine space above the kitchen where they’ll feel private.
Two light-filled and very comfortable bedrooms on the ground floor (both can be a twins) have stunning views and sliding doors to the sheltered terrace and garden. Mostly you’ll be out here, with the barbecue or pizza oven lit, table and chairs ready for long light evenings, as well as a rattan sofa while the children play safely in the enclosed garden and you open a bottle of something delicious. In the good-sized kitchen you’ll find local fudge and fresh flowers.
You can walk across the golf course to Polzeath and the beach in 25 minutes, so pack up a picnic and head off for dreamy days.

What a delight when we opened the door to Mynford cottage, the pictures do not really do it justice. A beautifully presented space to relax in and soak up the stunning views from the stoop and escape the bustle of everyday life. Amanda’s attention to detail was faultless everything had been carefully thought of and the whole place was immaculate. We loved the fact that we felt very secluded but within a couple of miles of stunning beaches, exhilarating costal walks and a diverse selection of restaurants and cafes at Rock and Polzeath. Such a wonderful and special place to come back to.

We have been staying at Mynford for ten years the family all love coming and now they have left home we love coming with friends.. we come three or four times a year as it is so unique. Mark and Amanda are terrific hosts and the cottage has every home comfort is always so welcoming and so incredibly peaceful. We would highly recommend it it to families or a group of friends at most times of the year you can sit on the veranda/stoop and just relax. Definitely the best home from home.

A wonderful, spacious cottage with far reaching countryside views in a peaceful spot with a gorgeous outdoor sheltered terrace with pizza oven and outdoor dining and lounge space in a private, enclosed garden. I loved the quirky boat resting in the rafters and the beautifully styled bedrooms were large and airy. And the beach and amazing restaurants are just a short drive away.

We found Mynford in 2008,and have come back most years since. There is a reason for this; it is simply the most comfortable, spacious and welcoming cottage imaginable. It is flooded with light, designed with great flair, fantastically well equipped, and everything works. The view is stunning ,as is the peace and quiet. Despite this, huge beaches are close by, as are great restaurants, water activities, and wonderful walks and sites to explore. It is always a joy to arrive, and there are no better hosts than Mark and Amanda whose kindness, efficiency, and warm welcome ensure we will always return.

Location
The neighbourhood
The best of both worlds here, steeped in gorgeous countryside but near enough to the action not to spend all your time in the car. Polzeath is a 5-minute drive for shops and restaurants, Rock is 3 miles and has a great selection of boutique shops, restaurants, pubs and cafés including Fee's in Rock, which also provide homemade ready meals you can order in advance. Hop on a ferry to Padstow.
Local points of interest from Amanda Woodward
- Head into Rock, where you can catch a regular ferry across the river to Padstow and its visitor attractions such as the harbour, the Camel River Trail, its famous restaurants and the National Lobster Hatchery.
- Polzeath is divided into two parts – the old and the new. Two hills, one to the north called Pentire Head, and one to the west, Highcliffe, overlook the wide stretch of beach below.
- The South West Coast Path passes through the village from beyond Pentire Point in the north and onto Daymer Bay and Rock as it follows the course of the Camel River.
- There are three places to eat and drink in the village: The Oystercatcher, The Waterfront and The Sandbar.
- Less than a mile away and over the hill to the south is Daymer Bay, which offers a large river beach with rock pools and a huge swathe of sand. Climb to the top of Brea Hill for enhanced, wide-reaching views across the estuary and out to sea.
- Polzeath is within driving distance of the idyllic Port Isaac, which is a traditional Cornish fishing village with a harbour and narrow streets lined with old cottages. Beloved of TV addicts, the village is used as a chief location in the series Doc Martin.

Introducing
Amanda Woodward
Amanda and her husband Mark live in the Mill House (which can also be rented out sometimes) next to the cottage and have two Shepherd's Huts which you could take for a bigger party. They are chatty and friendly and know the area well so are handy for advice should you need it, otherwise they'll leave you to your own devices.
We’ve been coming here for the past decade and it’s such a great house that the minute you arrive you instantly relax and go into holiday mode. The kids love the magic of the rowing boat in the beams which adds to the atmosphere of a Cornish holiday. Amanda is an excellent host and is always so cheerful, helpful and welcoming but leaves you to your own devices which is a lovely balance. The house is always so clean and easy to use and the open plan kitchen is the perfect place to cook up all the lovely locally sourced food from the local farm shop or fishmongers.
