Middle Colenso Farm

Old Granary, Carter’s Croft and Smugglers Lane all sit happily on the 18th-century farm (with much older roots) in a gloriously Cornish garden with gunnera, palms and other exotics. There’s also a communal boules court and gazebo, an outdoor cold shower for sandy things and a Pilates and fitness studio you can book. Each cottage also has its own outdoor space, well-equipped kitchen, comfortable sitting room and a rustic, arty feel.

You’ll find body boards and beach toys to borrow and it’s a short hop to Praa Sands for wonderful days out whatever the weather – long winter walks, or breezy summer picnics. Sleep in well-dressed beds, wake to the sound of birdsong, book onto the Reading Party four nights or a dedicated menopause fitness retreat – these are fully catered.
