The Experience

It’s a low building hugging the harbour wall with large sash windows for the views, beautiful beams, exposed granite and half-panelled walls, slate floors and deep colours. Sailing paraphernalia adorn the walls and although it’s big you’ll usually be able to find a little nook or cranny to hide in with a book or your laptop. Elevated pub grub is served with panache along with lots of fish sourced from the day boats working the coast.

Bedrooms are reached via a separate entrance and are all different, some with harbour views, all with armchairs or seating areas, well-presented beds and tiled bathrooms with walk-in showers and thick towels. You’ll also find dry robes in case you fancy a dip in the sea.

The large outside seating area is for pints and crisps only, except in summer when you can get pizza from the hut. Sitting out here in the evening with a pint of something from St Austell Brewery, listening to sea shanties will be memorable. Pure Cornwall.

Reviews

Recently renovated, this old coaching inn has gorgeous interiors downstairs and immaculate bedrooms above. If you're after harbour views, this place is hard to beat, right on Porthleven's bustling quayside with shops, delis and places to eat a moment's stroll. The waterside outdoor terrace is the perfect spot for watching the comings and goings in the harbour.
