The Experience

Families can roost easily here, especially in the warmer months. Find a playground for little ones, a football field for rompers, a summer house with a seated firepit area for stargazers and a covered veranda for those who prefer to simply sit with a glass of wine, even when it’s raining. The next-door field is under conservation status so bird watchers will be happy.

Inside is comfortable, warm and friendly – a wood-burner in the sitting room, a big sociable kitchen with an island unit and a table for eight, patio doors to the garden, even a larder. Owner Jo leaves you a Cornish cream tea and a bottle of Prosecco to get your holiday off to a flying start. Four spacious bedrooms (the master with an en suite and its own balcony) are upstairs – all have lovely views, three share a family bathroom and a separate shower downstairs.

Choose your outdoor eating area, let the children scamper while you light the firepit and ease into holiday mode.

Reviews

Jo's house is a real testament to her hard work in designing a joyous and stylish family home-from-home, with plenty to do and great outdoor space for families and friends to make happy holiday memories. It's perfectly placed in central Cornwall with easy access to both coasts and everything the county offers.

Location

The neighbourhood

Ladock village is just a mile away and has a church and a pub which is only open a few days a week. The best pub is The Plume of Feathers in Mitchell (just ten minutes along back roads) and the closest village shops are in Summercourt, Grampound Road and Probus. Trewithen Gardens are glorious, you can enjoy pretty woodland and open countryside walks all around, or you can tackle coastal paths. Truro is eight miles.

Local points of interest from Jo & Family

  • We have a resident barn owl who loves to give us a fly-by at dusk.
  • Varied country walks, and delightful dog-friendly strolls include the enchanting Circular Walk of Duchy of Cornwall Ladock Woods, (only 5 minutes away.) Wild flowers In springtime and early summer embellish the hedgerows of our country lanes.
  • Our Parish Church, St Ladoca, (2 minute drive, 30 minute walk) is a much admired Grade 1 listed building, with medieval foundations and magnificent 19th century stained glass windows by William Morris.
  • Truro, Cornwall’s attractive County capital, is 8 miles from Ladock. The city offers a wide variety of specialty shops, local markets, a first class museum and a soaring Gothic revival Cathedral. Lively pubs, bars, cafés and great restaurants await you!
  • Use Cornwall’s MyCoast app to decide if you want to surf a wave on the north coast or swim in the calmer waters on the south coast beaches of the Cornish Riviera. Both are less than 25 minutes from Ladock. You can also take boat trips in good tides.
  • Cornwall is well known for its mild micro climate, stunning gardens and spectacular coastlines. Our own favourite gardens are Trewithin (10 mins) and Heligan (25 mins). The magnificent Eden Project is 1/2 an hour away.
