The Experience
A 400-year-old fish cellar has become a glamorous jet-set pad overlooking Whitsand Bay. Lounge in the cedar hot tub on the terrace, gaze at the stars, listen to the waves crashing… you could almost be in the sea. The first-floor open-plan kitchen and living space comes with a semicircular slate work top, underfloor heating, an oak dining table with wicker chairs, a floating stove, and, best of all, floor-to-ceiling, triple-glazed windows through which to watch the sky and the sea. Down the spiral staircase children can sprawl out in the games room (table football, flatscreen TV, books, board games). Bedrooms on the ground floor are sublimely comfortable with excellent modern art and bits and pieces collected from the owners’ travels; the master bedroom, with its handmade oak bed and hydrotherapy bath, leads to its very own courtyard with a sedum grass roof. The bunkroom is big enough even for adults, and you’ll be mesmerised by the bathroom’s aquarium. Sand and surf on your doorstep, a good dining pub just along the road, and masses to explore: the winding coastal footpath, golf at Portwrinkle. Fabulous!

We had a wonderful stay at Buddha Beach House in April and look forward to both recommending it to our friends & family and to returning ourselves one day.The house is in a fabulous position overlooking the shoreline and is right on the coastal path. Buddha Beach House is spacious and really well kitted-out.The team looking after the place on a day-to-day basis were always 'about' and couldn't have been more helpful.

From the moment we walked into the breath-taking space, we felt at home. The views were spectacular and the space perfect for listening to music, cooking and eating together, reading and doing puzzles. There were thoughtful extras like cold champagne, tasty cake and fresh flowers, and a level of service that went beyond the expected; the patient way the host helped us find the right channel so we could all watch the rugby together! The beds were comfortable, the towels were thick and fluffy. It was wonderful to come back from long walks on the coastal path, and to recover in the hot-tub.
