The Experience

Stylish, but never stuffy, you’ll feel completely at home in the well-proportioned downstairs rooms with carefully chosen antiques and artwork, sink-into sofas, an elegant bar with a large pool table and local tipples, an edifying library and a peaceful drawing room. The food is delicious: cream teas are served every day, afternoon tea on Fridays and Saturdays, dinner from Wednesday to Sunday and home-cooked breakfasts that will set you up for anything – outdoors on balmy days.

The super-warm indoor pool can be reached easily and there’s a cosy treatment room. In the immaculate garden you’ll find sunny spots or shady places to lounge with a book and a sociable terrace for drinks and chats.

Bedrooms have distinct personalities – there’s a self-contained cottage too – but all are charming, with deep mattresses, lovely linen and spoiling bathrooms with Molton Brown soaps and lotions. Home-baked cookies and fresh milk are waiting.

We think you'll love

  • Being so thoroughly well looked after in such a peaceful, child-free environment with a stunning garden
  • The unique design and furnishings of the whole place – a refreshing antidote to corporate hotels
  • The food. Such care is taken, even down to bringing a fresh muffin to your bedroom door each morning, just to keep the wolf from the door before breakfast

Reviews

I'd rename it Boscuddle as that's the way it makes you feel when spending time in this tranquil oasis. I loved the utter positivity towards their guests and impeccable service offering of Louise and Jason, their choice of eclectic mix of artworks and antiques, along with the use of homely mismatched bone china. It feels like a massive hug and a very special place indeed.

Location

The neighbourhood

There is a decent pub for a Cornish pint, the Britannia Inn, a 10-minute walk away. There are super pubs and restaurants in Charlestown and Carlyon Bay, a short drive, or head to the harbour of Fowey, a 20-minute drive. Sam's on the Beach in Polkerris, 20 minutes, serves amazing mussels, pizzas and seafood. Knightor Winery near the Eden Project (10 minutes) has wine tastings and events.

Local points of interest from Louise Uys-Jones

  • Boscundle Manor is ideally located to place you within minutes of Cornwall’s finest beaches, harbour towns, villages and tourist attractions.
  • A visit to Cornwall wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the world famous Eden Project which is just 1 mile away.
  • A short drive away is the Lost Gardens of Heligan with its 200 acres of wild woodland, formal Victorian gardens and Gunnera gullies.
  • Pinetum Gardens is a 10-minute walk away and is home to one of the largest plant collections in the county.

Introducing

Louise Uys-Jones

Jason and Louise have a lifelong passion for hospitality – and oodles of experience. They have both worked abroad from South Africa to the Maldives and in London hotels, culminating in them buying Boscundle in 2020. They are very hands-on at meeting and greeting and take care that your needs are met. They have a core team of eight highly trained, friendly staff.
