The Experience

Find oodles of charm, standing timbers, period fireplaces and low beams with lots of nooks and crannies in the rambling series of rooms downstairs. It’s an oasis tucked away in a sleepy network of lanes and very much the hub of the community. The informal area by the bar has a mix of tables for drinkers (and food) while to the rear there is more formal dining leading to the terrace.

You eat well – find classic British dishes and more imaginative specials with a blackboard of great bar snacks. Menus change with the seasons, specials are changed daily, produce is sourced as locally as possible and everything is cooked from scratch. You’ll find some good local ales and a fine wine list too. Stay in very comfortable bedrooms above the bar, in a purpose-built extension or a converted barn – all have Nespresso machines, Roberts radios, smart TVs and Bramley soaps.

Wake to a cracking breakfast with thoughtful veggie options.

Reviews

If you're in need of a comfortable bolthole with good food and a relaxed vibe just a short drive from Ascot Races, Windsor Castle, or Legoland with the kids, then book a room at this cottage-style pub in sleepy Winkfield. Rooms are peaceful, dogs and kids are welcome (two family rooms), there's a fabulous terrace for summer al fresco eating, and the classy-rustic interior has low beams and cosy nooks.
