The Experience
You’re perfectly placed for Bath and Bristol here, tucked into the Mendips in a pretty village that loves its inn – and it’s easy to see why. The Litton is a gem, where owner Sally and her team work hard and happily to make you feel at home. Tuck yourself into a corner and order a Welsh rarebit – produce is grown in the kitchen garden – or grab a Moroccan blanket and an armful of cushions and head for the riverside terrace where there’s a converted horse box bar, barbecue, fire pits and up-cycled beer barrels to perch on. The whisky bar is a temptation all of its own, as are the splendid Sunday roasts. Bedrooms, some above the bar, some in the adjoining mill, are individually and stylishly decorated. Beds are big and comfy, baths and showers sparkle. Clever cottage-style suites on the ground floor let you bring the family without feeling cramped; one is designed for the less able. It’s not often an owner has thought of everything but Sally is a star, and the Litton shines out as special.

What a lovely pub! Went for lunch with my mum and we both enjoyed it very much. The food was excellent - chicken supreme with smoked cheese croquette, full of flavour and texture - and the staff happy and helpful. A deserving award winner!

We were looking for a lovely place to stay near Wells while visiting friends and are so glad we found the Litton on Sawdays website. It was delightful: lovely room, comfy bed and great food and service.

The last two times we tried to visit the pub was closed. However we tried again today and boy are we glad that we did. This is a fantastic refurbishment of the highest standard. Staff were very friendly and the Ploughman’s we had was excellent. We live fairly close so can now visit more often. However if you are holidaying or staying in the area and want to visit a real quality establishment add The Litton to your list, you won’t be disappointed.

A very enjoyable stay. We had two connecting rooms which were comfortable. Food was very good (my duck was cooked perfectly) and the staff were friendly and efficient.
