The Duchess of Devonshire’s eye for style has resurrected this friendly, estate-owned pub. Chatsworth produce completes the experience...

Pretty much everything on the menu comes from the 1000 acre estate: beef, lamb, venison, eggs. They bake their own bread and muffins, make granola and preserve jams. It’s a popular spot for locals and visitors to the Peak District so make sure you book a table for dinner in the dining room. Interiors envisioned by the Duchess include tartans, heritage colours and a good few antler chandeliers. After a day exploring prop up the welcoming bar with a pint of Chatsworth Gold. Sunday lunch is a treat, and children have their own menu. Visit Chatsworth House and Garden, you might catch an exhibition or seasonal event. There’s a playground and farmyard for families; little ones can bottle feed lambs in the spring. Stroll up to the award-winning Chatsworth Farm Shop for good things to take home or buy the food lover in your life a smart hamper.
