The Experience

In magical Venice, take a water taxi to a 15th-century palazzo that overlooks the Grand Canal and oozes all the elegance a stylista could wish for. Deeply satisfying bedrooms have cool turquoises and dark chocolate tones, perfectly set off by polished marble tiles and original parquet, exposed beams and well-chosen antiques.

One has a bath tub to disappear into, another a renovated wash basin from the 1700s; some have inspirational views across the canal where the palazzos are lit up at night. To complete the indulgence you can have breakfast brought to your room, though in fine weather you might prefer to linger over coffee on the vine-tinged private courtyard.

The rest of the day is yours. Seasoned curios-seeker Brittany is happy to point you in the direction of all the best antique shops and museums – take a traditional gondola. It’s romantic, hugely welcoming, and you can live like the ‘donne nobili’ before you.

Reviews

The Cima Rosa boutique B&B is as dreamy as the city itself and hosts Brittany and Daniele have done everything possible to make guests feel at home. The location is prime, the views stunning and the hospitality top-rated as so many of our guests report. Breakfast is a highlight looking on to the Grand Canal as is an aperitivo in the courtyard with rose vines. Divino!

Nicole, Sawday's Inspector

I found this accommodation on the Sawdays site and we were captivated from the moment we arrived: lovely hosts, fantastic historic building and courtyard, the Grand Canal lapping at the door, museums, restaurants, a lovely campo all on the doorstep. The rooms are great, very clean and comfortable, breakfasts are very fresh and beautifully presented. Brittany and the staff are so kind and helpfully book tickets or tables. Nothing is too much trouble.

Gill, Bournemouth

We have just returned from Venice and our stay at Cima Rosa was what I'd hoped for and more. The B&B is delightful, everywhere you look is a still life. The location is brilliant - not far from Sta Stae vaporetto stop, and in a non touristy buzzy neighbourhood, with some very good restaurants. Britanny , our host was charming and so helpful. She booked restaurants for us and a concert and her local knowledge was invaluable and made our stay special. I hope to return sometime soon.

Shirley

Philippa

This is a very special place! Brittany and Lisa are exceptional hosts, nothing is too much trouble, their recommendations for all sorts of things, from wonderful local restaurants to concerts etc was invaluable. The suites open directly on to the Grand Canal, wonderful to see the world go by. We certainly had a room with a view!! The big bonus was breakfast was served in our room, lovely freshly sqeezed orange juice, fresh fruit salad, croissants, rolls, ham and cheese. Perfect way to start the day. we loved the neighbourhood. Nothing but praise for this gem of a B&B!

Location

The neighbourhood

It's a very easy walk from the house to the San Stae vaporetto stop. The Santa Croce area is residential, dotted with small neighbourhood restaurants and shops – a maze of small streets to get lost in. Within 20 minutes you can reach museums and churches full of important art works – the Ca Pesaro' modern art gallery is around the corner and the Palazzo Mocenigo (textiles) just across the street.

Local points of interest from

  • In the heart of Venice, Cima Rosa is just a short walk to the Rialto and its lively markets and restaurants, yet off the beaten track, so returning to our ancient oasis is magical!
  • The Santa Croce remains one of the few neighbourhoods still populated by Venetian families and therefore home to many of the best local restaurants and delicacies Venice has to offer.
  • Indulge in the contemporary art scene just minutes away, a spritzer with the locals on the Grand Canal, or a rest after a long days walk in the charming San Giacomo Square.
